I didn't read the product description as carefully as usual and was shocked to see that these skewers are relatively huge and flat in design. Since they're so different than the wooden skewers I typically use to grill shrimp, I initially thought I'd return them. But that would have been a truly foolish decision. These skewers are a game-changer.The first thing you'll notice is that they ship in a handy reusable nylon drawstring bag, and the sharp tips are all covered with tight-fitting rubber caps. At 23.6" long, I initially thought they might be too large for my Weber Spirit grill, but it turns out that they're the perfect size. They stretch from the front to the back of my Weber Spirit grill with the handles dangling over the outside edge. This allows me to make use of nearly my entire grill surface.The main reason I was concerned about the flat design is the width, almost half an inch. I feared that would be too big for medium-sized shrimp, and that they'd end up splitting the shrimp in half. Fortunately, I was wrong. The skewers slide easily through raw shrimp in that size range, and the flat design is fantastic because it prevents food items from twisting when you flip them. This allows for much more even cooking--critical with fast-cooking items like shrimp.Since the handles are wood, I feared they'd grow terribly hot even if they dangled over the edge of the grill. This isn't the case. They stay cool to the touch, and I don't need gloves to handle them even for extended periods of time. The stainless steel finish is smooth and consistent, and the skewers clean up very easily with dish soap, warm water, and a textured sponge. Best of all, you can fit so many shrimp on one of these that 2 pounds of medium shrimp requires only 5 skewers. That means less flipping and less cooking effort for you.If you're used to using traditional wooden skewers that singe your fingers while grilling, these stainless steel skewers will bring much-needed relief by simultaneously simplifying the process and giving better results. Highly recommended.
Will definitely have to try these out but they are so much larger then I expected but I'm guessing that's beneficial for using in the grill..the quality seems great.. fast delivery and packaged well
