The silverware has some real weight to it and looks better in person. I have not tried prying open doors or anything like that they feel durable.

Originally ordered and got the Mikasa Satin Loft. Didn't care for the large bulky pieces and that the handles showed fingerprints that the frosted handles were supposed to hide but didn't. Gave it away. Got this and all pieces are the perfect size and the Ripple Texture hides any fingerprints or other marks. Plus it was $60 less than the Mikasa. In all sets now, the utensils are all 18/10 but the knives are straight 18 to give them more rigidity for their job, but less rust resistance. Wash knives by hand if your uncomfortable taking a chance. If you should ever get any rust on any of your silverware, Bar Keepers Friend Cream will take care of that. Don't use their powder cleaner, it may scratch. Amazon has the Bar Keepers Friend Cream at a very reasonable price. Enjoy.
